Over the last year, senior housing managers within the four councils have been
working together to put forward this proposal to improve your housing service.
Over the summer, we held our consultation and spoke to nearly 10,000 tenants and leaseholders. All councils have now approved plans to set up an “arms length management organisation” (ALMO) to manage your council housing services and an application will now be made to the Tenant Services Authority (TSA), the national regulator of social housing.
The Tenant Services Authority is appointed by the Government as an independent regulator for affordable housing in England. To find out more call 0845 230 7000 or visit their website http://www.tenantservicesauthority.org/
Contact your Tenant Participation Officers (TPO) at your council
Based in the housing teams at each council, these TPO's work directly with
tenants and leaseholders to ensure they are involved with the local housing service.
If you have any questions about what we’re proposing, or would like to find out how you can get more involved, please contact your local Tenant Participation Officer, their details are on the 'have your say section'
Involving local tenants and leaseholders
We’re already involving local tenants and leaseholders’ representatives in what we are proposing. Last year, a Joint Tenants and Leaseholders Group (JTLG) was set up, which is made up of tenant and leaseholder representatives from Canterbury, Dover, Shepway and Thanet. This group meets regularly to discuss the proposals and they have been involved in making sure your needs are really taken into account.
